My name is Shadow and I'd like to tell you a little bit
about why I have a website.
I was adopted from a shelter. I ended up in the shelter because I was a stray (that part
of my life I don't talk about). Not only did my life change when I was adopted, but my
adoptive parents lives changed as well.
I did everything wrong in the beginning. When left alone, I would destroy and eat
everything I could get my paws on, including calculators, cd's, remote controls, and
other so called "non-edible" items. I would empty the trash all over the house. I just
didn't know what to do when I was all by myself. I thought my new family was leaving me
like the last ones did.
I also didn't know the first thing about walking on a leash. I'm really strong and I
would pull mom whenever possible. (I thought that was the whole idea of the thing.) Once,
I even pulled mom's shoulder right out of place.
I am so glad that my new family didn't give up on me. They took the time to teach me.
They understood that I needed to learn what was right and what was not. They realized
that it would take time. (By the way, they had some learning to do also!)
Mom decided to start studying dog psychology and behavior. She also started to walk
shelter dogs on Saturday's. She said she wanted to help other dogs learn some manners so
that they would become more adoptable. According to her, I made such a difference in her
life that she wanted to be able to make a difference in dog's lives.
Mom says that in the human world, it is very difficult to earn a living doing something
that makes a difference. In order to be able to help other dogs at the level we'd like
to, we needed to come up with a way to make funds. We brain stormed and decided to try to
come up with items that dog lover's might buy. We wanted items that every dog lover might
want. Not just items that were breed specific. Many shelter dog's are mixed breeds or
unknown breeds, and shelter dogs are the ones we wanted to target. There are far too many
dogs being put to sleep due to overpopulation or because they just aren't given a fair
chance.
Mom wants to help these dogs and so do I. As a team, maybe we can make a difference,
maybe we can save some lives, and maybe we can help others have a life changing bond like
ours.
